Make-A-Wish® is thrilled to share exciting news of a brand
new donor in our Western Region of the state.
Blood Sweat and Gears is a challenging 100 mile bike ride event,
starting just south of Boone and extending throughout the outskirts of Watauga
County and through the heart of North Carolina’s High Country, including an
extensive portion of the ride along the famous Blue Ridge Parkway.
BSG, as it is more commonly referred to, is a thrilling experience
that draws over 1250 riders from across the state and country, bringing
thousands of spectators to the Boone area.
BSG has always been a strong supporter of local businesses and the local
chapter of the American Red Cross, but will be including Make-A-Wish® Central
and Western North Carolina as one of their beneficiaries for the first time
this year. The event will take place on June 22nd, and we are ecstatic
to have a presence amongst the amazing cyclists who are gearing up for this
challenging experience.
Blood Sweat and Gears has made a $6000 donation and is
participating in our Adopt-A-Wish program as the sole sponsor of one of our
children’s life enhancing experiences. Our mission, to bring hope, strength and
joy to kids who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses struck a chord
with BSG leadership. They also find that many of their participants are doing
this ride to provide hope, strength and joy for either themselves or a loved
one.
We are so very thankful for Blood, Sweat & Gears for
their first Make-A-Wish donation and the hard work of their Board Chair, Scott
Nelson, in his partnering with us. We
are especially appreciative for the smiles, hope, strength and joy that their
Adopt-A-Wish is going to provide a local child from our Western Region.
